IKG promotes the importance of enhancing the landscape in which we live, and how our linking gardens into it can provide beauty and ecological benefit. Our understanding of the intricacies of woodland, hedgerow, water course, grassland and pond management allow us to specify and undertake work which will continue to give value for years to come. 

We aim to create gardens which delight at every layer. The smallest details add up to create spaces which please even from afar. Crucially, every element should complement the space; matching vernacular, landscape and people to ensure authenticity and beauty. Our plants and materials are chosen for the highest quality, and greatest level of suitability to the site and the people which inhabit it. Thoughtful detailing raises our gardens to a higher level; gardens should be a joy to be in, as well as to look at. The garden gate, handmade from local hardwood, to the front door step, from stone traditionally dressed in the next valley- small moments of everyday joy. 

IKG creates and manages meadow areas for all situations. We are fully committed to the importance of species-rich grassland and are only too keen to talk about how these areas can be incorporated into garden settings. Often, our meadows are much more than a diverse native sward cut in late summer- they will include garden perennials as well as Spring and Autumn flowering bulbs to extend the flowering season. They can provide huge value, to people and wildlife with minimal input. 

IKG believes firmly that the management of water should be managed as naturally as possible. Combining the latest research, regulations and site-specific solutions with constant referral back how the natural World manages water- we create systems which are functional, sustainable and beautiful. Water is often least considered, yet vital to us. A precious resource and a wonderful tool to create diverse and resilient gardens.

Using the right materials for the site is fundamental. It ties house and garden together as an entity and these, in turn, to the immediate landscape. Where possible, our plants are sourced from local growers to ensure they're suitable for their ultimate planting location and so that we can offer a diverse range of plants not always available at commercial scale. We strive to reuse materials and plants already on site, which reduces wastage and maintains a comfortable sense of belonging to new work.
